About us

Paul Doherty - Partner

Paul is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and specializes in the development of individuals at work. His work includes individual development, for example, careers-counselling/guidance and coaching, as well as organizational consultancy, for example, senior level selection. Paul has carried out assignments in a broad range of sectors, including outplacement, the voluntary sector, telecommunications, IT, Search & Selection, Management Consultancy, and for the Government (he works as a psychologist assessor for the Cabinet Office) and with candidates from recently qualified graduates to senior managers.

 

Since 1994 Paul's work has also encompassed expert witness work. In this capacity he provides expert testimony to the Courts in loss of earnings related litigation, in particular the impact of disability, including stress, on a person's employment prospects.

Paul started his career in 1986 as a recruitment consultant in the IT sector. He later took up a research position with the Ministry of Defence where he specialized in the assessment of work performance under stress. He then moved to take up a position as head occupational psychologist with Social Services where he specialised in assisting individuals re-build their careers following significant health related setbacks.

Paul has a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Industrial Psychology. He is licensed by the British Psychological Society to use psychometric tests (Full Level B). Finally his professional memberships include full professional membership of the Association of Business Psychologists, The Association for Coaching, and the Academy of Experts.


Christine Stobbs - Partner

Christine  practiced as a psychotherapist/counsellor for a number of years. She is qualified to conduct psychometric assessment and is trained in a number of occupational tools as well as tests of aptitude and ability.  She has achieved the Institute of Directors' Diploma in Company Direction, which gives her insight into the issues faced by business,  and also into the performance requirements of employers.

Christine has applied her skills in many areas, including occupational health;  selection in the third sector, local and national government and commercial organisations; private practice; training and writing.  Some years ago she developed her own coaching programme to use with clients and through this she has helped both individuals and couples alike, achieve their goals and change their lives. 

Her work now encompasses Vocational Rehabilitation Needs assessments in line with the Rehabilitation Code, assessment for selection and executive coaching.

She is a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Practising Member of the Association for Coaching, a Professional member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association, a member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the Association for Professionals in Services for Adolescents.

Since 1998 she has been a contributor to the British Veterinary Association In Practice Journal, with published articles, including: Communication Skills, Personality at Work, Emotional Intelligence and The Transition from Student to Professional. She advised on a programme about Stress at Christmas for an independent television company, and for fun she was an on-line reviewer of hotels and restaurants for a travel website!


Catharine Robinson - Senior researcher

Catharine has worked in a variety of fields including educational publishing, producing information and publicity materials for local government and undertaking research for a campaigning charity. For many years she worked in magazine journalism, concentrating on health, family and society. She studied at the University of London and has a BA in English. Catharine has worked as a researcher for Expert Witness reports since 1998.


Angela Kateley - Associate

Angela studied European Studies and History at the University of Wales College Newport. On leaving college she went on to join the Third Sector with a well-known charity that works with families and children. She has since worked in both public sector and commercial organisations.



Mark Cheesman – Associate

Mark is a Chartered Occupational and Health Psychologist with expertise in the assessment of the impact of disability and illness on work and activities of daily living. He is an experienced expert witness, having written in excess of 500 reports for court and tribunals. He is also skilled in occupational health assessment, vocational rehabilitation and business psychology.

Karen Hawkins – Associate

Karen is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and specialises in working with people with disabilities and health problems, including assessment of vocational rehabilitation needs, retraining potential and return to work prospects.  She has a broad knowledge of the issues and processes surrounding acquired disability and return to work.

Denny Pickering – Office Manager

Denny, the office manager, heads the support team at Winchester and is assisted by Elaine and Marianne.  Denny and her team will be more than happy to help if you have an enquiry.
